In patients with nerve pain, caused by the inflammation of spinal roots or peripheral nerves (herniated disc, for example), it allows pain resolution by injecting (anti-inflammatory) drugs near the peripheral nerves or the inflamed roots.

Under ultrasound guidance, it allows to reduce the symptoms of pain, thanks to the injection of anti-inflammatory medication.
