What are the benefits?

Pain therapy is a specialty branch of medicine that aims to treat chronic pain (lumbosciatica, cervicalgia, cephalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia). After identifying the aetiological diagnosis of the pain, the pain doctor can treat it with pharmacological, infiltrative or minimally invasive interventional therapy.

NO GENERAL ANAESTHESIA

It requires only a modest subcutaneous local anaesthesia, so no general anaesthesia is required for the patient, as is normally required in the case of “traditional” surgery.

NO RISK OF DEEP SCARRING

It is performed through the skin, so there is no need for deep incisions in the muscle and ligament tissue with a scalpel, it is usually performed in ‘traditional’ surgery and often causes microbleeding around the disc or nerve roots, forming a periradicular scar, and it is a traditional surgery.

NO RISK OF SUPERFICIAL SCARRING

No skin incision is made, but a coaxial retractor is simply introduced, avoiding unsightly scars on the skin.

DIAGNOSIS AND INSTANT EVALUATION

When composing the clinical picture, it is good to take into account not only how much pain the patient feels but also the characteristics of the pain itself: a fundamental element in the choice of the type of antalgic therapy.

REDUCED INTERVENTION AND HOSPITALISATION TIMES

Under normal circumstances, the duration of surgery does not exceed 60-90 minutes. Usually observed for 12-24 hours during hospitalization.
